People often mistake the idea of being spiritually independent with being alone. This is far from the truth. We are independent in our thinking, not isolated in our living. We are independent in that we weave our own sense of meaning and purpose from many different sources without limiting ourselves to any one wisdom tradition, be it religious, scientific, or otherwise, and not in the sense that we are loners or anti–community. Yet it is also true that a network or community of spiritually independent people is different than one built around a common creed or shared belief system. Spiritually independent people get together to share their quests and questions rather than to celebrate the conceit of having found the right answer.
This page is devoted to helping you find other spiritually independent people with whom to share your quest. If you are hosting a spiritually independent gathering, send the information to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will post it here.
